The government has chosen the last parliamentary working day of the year to simultaneously publish hundreds of reports, statements and legislative documents. At a time when journalists are looking the other way, and the country as a whole is firmly focused on Christmas holidays, this can be nothing else but a brazen attempt to make today a good day to bury bad news.
This is a prime example of the deliberate, institutionalised trickery that contributes to politicians being so routinely distrusted and disparaged.
